Osteopath

What is Osteopathy

Osteopathy is an integral part of health care systems around the world.

The practice of osteopathy was developed in the 1860’s by an American doctor, and today in the United States osteopaths are fully qualified medical practitioners who recognise the benefits of manipulation for their patients’ overall health management.

In Australia, osteopaths specialise in ‘hands on’ musculoskeletal health care, and are trained as stand-alone primary contact practitioners. While a referral to an osteopath is not needed to commence treatment, osteopaths often work with GPs and other health professionals to provide comprehensive and wholistic management for your health.

Osteopathic treatment is safe, gentle, and effective. Our osteopaths focus especially on your muscles, tendons and ligaments, and apply techniques to effectively treat pain and dysfunction in all parts of your body.

Osteopathy is recognised within the Australian health care system. Osteopathic treatment is covered for workcover and motor vehicle accident claims, and rebates are offered by all private health funds for osteopathy.

If you have any questions about osteopathy, or osteopathic treatment, please phone us at Flourish Health Services. We will be more than happy to talk to you.
